ARCHITECTURE AUTOGRAPHS
Architecture is sufficiently distinct from other forms of art to merit a category of its own. Architects shape the world in which they live in a way that other artists do not but they are rarely so recognised by the public as their fine art counterparts. However, the architects that rise to the top of their profession can achieve lasting greatness and the buildings which they design are forever linked with their name. Of all the branches of art, its interaction with the people that live with it, has the most scope for exciting controversy and debate. Whether the definition of great architecture must include some element of adornment as advocated by JOHN RUSKIN or whether it is, as Van Der Rohe said, what happens when you put two bricks together, most people will appreciate (or at least have an opinion) on what constitutes great architecture. Scroll down for a selection of Owen & Barlow's autographs in the field of architecture.
