Author of 'The Jungle Book' etc. Last 2 pages of a longer ALS but, nevertheless, with interesting content dealing with Australia, the South African Cape Colony, etc. ". . . head and the head of his fervent friends that he is not yet the flower of tact and savvy. As to what you say about the Cape, I remember a place called Australia I think about forty years ago it was largely advertised as a burning desert and some men called Burke & Wills went and died where cattle are reared.....

Author of 'The Jungle Book', 'Just So Stories', 'Gunga Din', 'If', etc. Newsprint portrait mounted on postcard, signed on strip of paper mounted below and with his 'Burwash, Etchingham' address label on verso. Approx 5.5 x 3.5 inches. From Kipling's appearance, the photograph for the portrait was probably taken around 1930. Provenance: From the album of a young lady compiled between circa 1925 to 1935. Her usual modus operandi was to extract portraits from newspapers and magazines and ask her 'victims' to sign them. From.....

Paris. 29th June 1860 and 23rd May 1860. Both to a Monsieur Gaillard, a notaire. The text of both letters in French. Alphonse De Lamartine's letter dated 29th June 1860 (2pp) says that he has removed M. Sellant's authority to sell due to combination of actions not taken and similar reasons. He has reimbursed him the sum of 2,640 francs (apparently a deposit by way of security) and he asks.....
