FRANCIS, DUKE OF TECK. Autograph Letter Signed. Francis Paul Charles Louis Alexander, Duke of Teck. Known as Count Francis von Hohenstein until 1863. Austrian born aristocrat and member of the British Royal Family by marriage. He was the father of Queen Mary and the great-grandfather of Elizabeth II. ALS. 3pp. Kensington Palace, Friday 26th January 1876.  To Edwin Villiers. Together with original envelope front. "Sir, Many thanks for your kind letter. P[rinces]s Mary, myself and our children shall with pleasure attend the performance on Wednesday morning. Please let me know if we are to be the Duke and Duchess of.....

PRINCESS FRANCOISE OF ORLEANS Two autograph Letters Signed. Princess of the French royal House of Orleans and Duchess of Chartres.   Two ALsS. 2pp. Chantilly. 28th March 1894 and 13th May 1895. To Madame de St. Didier. Together with a contemporary small newsprint portrait.   Text in French. Both letters refer to her offering or contribution towards the work of St. Anges, which was presumably a religious order involved in philanthropic work.   12mo and 16mo. Approx 6 x 4 inches and 4.75 x 4.5 inches. Lacking integral blank leaves and with mounting traces to blank versos. Very good.   Princess.....

FREDERICK AUGUSTUS III Letter Signed. Last King of Saxony.   LS. 1p. Dresden. 22nd February 1910. To an unnamed correspondent but probably Cardinal Pierre-Hector Coullie. Together with a contemporary tinsel portrait post-card.   Text in a clerical court hand with autograph signature of Frederick Augustus III (as Frederick Auguste). In French. [Trans] "Monsigneur, it is with great satisfaction that I received the wishes that your Eminence was kind enough to send me for the Holy Christmas festivities. Please receive my sincere reciprocations as well as the assurance of the particular esteem which I hold for you, Monsigneur, your Eminance, with great.....

GEORGE V (1865-1936) King of the United Kingdom, QUEEN MARY OF TECK (1867-1953) Queen consort of George V, WILLIAM CAVENDISH-BENTINCK 6th DUKE OF PORTLAND (1857-1943), VIOLET MANNERS DUCHESS OF RUTLAND (1856-1937), HELEN PERCY DUCHESS OF NORTHUMBERLAND (1886-1965) & one other. Document signed by all six. On the letterhead of the Duke of Portland's house at 3 Grosvenor Square, W.1. No date. Signatures in pencil on a single bifolium sheet.  Evidently obtained at a rather grand house party and, from another Cavendish-Bentinck autograph obtained at the same place and time it appears that the signatures were provided for a boy named.....

PRINCESS HELENA Autograph Letter Signed. Helena Augusta Victoria, 3rd daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.   ALS. 2pp and integral blank leaf. Balmoral. May 20th 1864. To "Dearest Andie" [the pianist Lucy Anderson]. Together with an early carte de visite photograph.   "I hasten to answer your letter I received yesterday, and to say that Mama does on no account wish the dressers to be changed. What dear Papa liked and ordered is too sacred to us to have them altered. About the other observation in your letter there is nothing to say, we quite understand everything. Please tell Mr Anderson.....

JAMES VI and I Letter Signed. James Charles Stuart, James I of England and Ireland and James VI of Scotland. LS. Linlithgow, 14th December 1581. To the Laird of Barnebarroch. The text is written in Middle or Older Scots and is an instruction to the Laird to attend Session and Exchequer at the King's Court at Linlithgow, which is to commence on the 1st January next.  The letter strikes a diplomatic balance between a kingly decree and a cordial request. James apologises for the short notice and says "that gif throu schortness of tyme ye can not keip the day".....

German Prince of the House of Nassau-Weilburg, son of William Duke of Nassau and Princess Pauline of Wurttemberg.   ALS. 2pp plus integral blank leaf. Together with original envelope. Monrepos. 30th December 1864. To Miss Eliza Tolmé.   "Dear Miss Eliza! Please to accept my best thanks for your and your sister's kind help in the making of the plum-pudding which your mother was kind enough to send me for Christmas! I shall of course now enjoy it the more knowing that such fair hands did their best to sweeten it and I.....

VICTORIA and ARTHUR WELLESLEY, 1st Duke of Wellington Document signed by both. Alexandrina Victoria, Queen of the United Kingdom and Great Britain, Empress of India. Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, soldier and statesman, Victor of Waterloo and twice Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.  Folded paper cover bearing the words "Buckingham Palace Dinner List Tuesday 6th March 1838" and initialled by the Queen "V.R." The document also bears the words in pencil in the Duke of Wellington's hand "The Queen's autograph" and Wellington's initial.  A pencil note on the verso reads "one of the first dinner lists initialled by.....

VICTORIA and BARONESS LOUISE LEHZEN Document Signed. Alexandrina Victoria, Queen of the United Kingdom and Great Britain, Empress of India. Johanna Clara Louise Lehzen, governess and companion to Queen Victoria.  Autograph signature of Queen Victoria on her monogrammed personal stationary, with the date in her hand "August 8th 1842". TOGETHER WITH the original letter cover front in the hand of Baroness Lehzen "Captain Seymour, with Baroness Lehzen's best compliments". A nice, bold example of the young Queen's signature.  Victoria was then aged just 23 years.  She had acceded to the throne five years earlier.  Unusually, Victoria has signed her name.....

VICTORIA EUGENIE OF BATTENBURG Letter Signed. Queen of Spain, as wife of Alfonso XIII. Granddaughter of Queen Victoria.   Letter in clerical court hand, signed with full autograph signature (as 'Victoria Eugenia'). Palace of Madrid. 31st January 1910. To Cardinal Pietro Coullie. Together with a contemporary real photograph post-card showing Victoria Eugenie with her children.   Text in Spanish. Apparently wishing the Cardinal well in his retirement and sending good wishes for a happy Easter and an enjoyable rest and expressing the hope that the Almighty grant him all the peace he could wish for and extended years of life, etc......
