Windlesham, Crowborough, Sussex. 30th January, 1910.  To "Dear Sir".   "I shall have much pleasure in joining your Local Committee, and enclose a guinea towards the fund. Yours faithfully, Arthur Conan Doyle".   8vo. 7 x 4.25 inches. Slight mounting traces to left edge.   1910 was an eventful year for Arthur Conan Doyle.  His son Adrian was born in that year and he completed one of the most celebrated Sherlock Holmes stories, 'The Speckled Band'.  He.....

VICTORIA Signed Appointment. Queen Victoria was the longest reigning monarch of the United Kingdom. From 1876 she was also Empress of India. Appointment by Victoria of Henry Churchill as Consul-General to Syria. Very fine, large bold autograph signature at head of a document. An attractive document on vellum parchment with mourning edge.  The Royal seal on impressed paper is affixed at top left.  The Appointment also bears the autograph signature of Prime Minister Lord John Russell on last leaf. SERGEI RACHMANINOFF (1873-1943) Autograph Signature on programme

SERGEI RACHMANINOFF Autograph Signature on Programme Russian composer, pianist and conductor.   Autograph signature on front cover of programme.  Rachmaninoff has signed along the right border next to his portrait photograph by Kubey-Rembrandt Studios.  The concert was given in Cologne on 3rd November 1928.  Rachmaninoff performed Preludes of his own composition, as well as pieces by Liszt, Chopin and Bach-Busoni. Rachmaninoff's signature is large and bold but is written with a fine nib that gives it quite a light appearance.   The illustrated programme measures approx 10 x 8.75 inches and contains 16pp.  It is complete.  There are some separations.....

Frederick Sleigh Roberts, known affectionately as "Bobs" was arguably the most successful British military commander of the 19th century.   Post-card real photograph by Rotary, with the autograph signature of Frederick Roberts in top left corner of the image.  A nice portrait which shows the formidable soldier, half-length in full dress uniform, displaying his Victoria Cross and other decorations.   Post-card measures approx. 5.5 x 3.5 inches.
