Name of addressee undeciphered [but to a solicitor in 6 New Square, Lincoln's Inn, London].   The Duke's handwriting is, as always, somewhat difficult to read but the letter is a direction to a solicitor to pay to or from the credit of his account with Messs Coutts, Bankers, the balance of a sum due to or by him to a Mr. Williamson [?] and to.....

Grandfather of Charles Darwin and Francis Galton.   Autograph signature (initials) and three lines in his hand. September 30th 1784.   "Please to weigh the oats . . . [?] with money. For Mrs Cheney. Sept 30th - 84".  With provenance written on the verso by the original collector "Dr Erasmus Darwin - Grandfather of Charles Darwin - given to me by his granddaughter's friend - Mrs Cowan."   On paper piece measuring approx 7.5 x 2 inches. Villeneuve-Sur-Yonne. 26th August [no year].  12 lines, signed and dated.12mo. Approx 6 x 4 inches (15 x 10 cms). Central fold. Some marking and staining, else very good.This prescription was written sometime between 1921 and 1932, this being the period during which Marcel Petiot was practicing in Villeneuve-sur-Yonne, where he established something of a dubious reputation for abortions and the prescribing of narcotics. Dr Marcel Petiot is thought to have murdered around 60 people, although the true.....

HERBERT "BERT" HINKLER Autograph Signature on Menu Card. Herbert John Louis Hinkler (known as Bert Hinkler). Australian pioneer aviator. Made the first solo flight from England to Australia.   A good, bold autograph signature on menu card for the Royal Aero Club House Dinner to welcome Squadron-Leader H.J.L. Hinkler A.F.C., D.S.M., RAAF. Wednesday, 14th November, 1928.   The folded menu measures approx. 6 x 4.5 inches (folded), 6 x 9 inches (unfolded). Printed on heavy ivory card with menu and wine list printed in blue.  In fine condition.   Bert Hinkler was possibly Australia's foremost pioneer aviator. He served with distinction.....
