ALEXANDRE DUMAS Fils Autograph Note Signed.
French author and playwright. Author of La Dame aux Camelias (The Lady of the Camellias) adapted by Verdi as La Traviata.
ANS (14 words, or so) on verso of his printed visiting card. The note is addressed to Campbell Clarke and appears to be an invitation (or an acceptance of one) to attend a performance at 1.30 on 15th January 1887. signed "A. Dumas".
Approx 9.5 x 6 cms. Triangular chip in right edge, mounting traces to verso. Good.
Possibly relating to Dumas' play Francillon, first performed in 1887. Sir Campbell Clark was a noted author, journalist and literary critic. He was particularly known for his knowledge of all aspects of French literature and had a high reputation as a critic in the literary circles in Paris.
