ALFRED NOYES Autograph Letter Signed.
English poet and short story writer. Author of 'The Highwayman'.
ALS. 2pp. 85 Cadogan Gardens, SW. January 18th 1927. To [Arthur St John] Adcock.
"In great haste I return corrected proof, and shall be awfully glad if I can have a "revise" as I want to make quite sure the corrections are all right. There'll be nothing but printers' errors to alter in the next, so I hope this will not inconvenience you. I'm just off to speak at the English . . .(?). Yours ever, Alfred Noyes."
8vo bifolium. 18 x 11.5 cms (7 x 4.5 inches). Mounting traces to right edge, else fine.
St John Adcock was editor of the literary periodical 'The Bookman' which had published several poems by Alfred Noyes, including his classic 'The Highwayman'. In this instance, however, it is probably one of Alfred Noyes' pieces of non-poetical writing that has been submitted - most likely his 'Sir Oliver Lodge's Correlation of Science and Religion' which appeared in the February 1927 issue of 'The Bookman'.
