An official letter written in French and giving instructions to the State finance officer of Portugal in relation to fiscal matters, which appear to relate to fairly pressing and urgent requirements for money in connection with ministers in Spain.

Little is known about Donna Anna of Portugal, who was the daughter of Charles Borgia. She was probably born in France. Through the influence of the Borgia family and by marriage she became part of the ruling family of Portugal Castro and, from the appearance of this letter wielded some considerable power on behalf of her husband, Pierre of Portugal.
