Description

GEORGE BERNARD SHAW autograph Note Signed.

Irish dramatist, critic and writer.

ANS on his 10 Adelphi Terrace, London WC2 correspondence card. Malvern. 15th April 1925. Signed with initials.

"I forgot to return these in my letter. They are appropriately funny; but Henderson's half of them is funnier than mine. I think they are about right for the book."

Approx 4.5 x 2 inches. Mounting traces to verso. Small area of rubbing at lower right corner. All else very good.

1925, the date of this note, was a momentous one for George Bernard Shaw. That year he was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature and the first Shaw Festival was held at Malvern - the location from which Shaw is here writing.

"Henderson" is almost certainly the American professor of mathematics, Archibald Henderson, who wrote three biographies of Shaw and many other books and articles dealing with his life and work.
