A letter written during Lord Raglan's period as a Tory politician. The addressee is almost certainly the Rev George Radcliffe DD, the Prebendary of Sarum, Salisbury. Raglan had been elected as MP for Truro in 1818 and served as Wellington's secretary when he was Master-General of the Ordnance. Raglan lost his seat in the general election of 1820 but regained it in 1826. He stood down from parliament in 1829.
