Prince Alfred Ernest Albert, 4th child and 2nd son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Reigned as Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha from 1893. Officer in the British Royal Navy.

Foolscap folio. Approx 33 x 20 cms. slightly edge worn with a few short edge tears, some original blotting to ink, folds and creases. Very good.
At the date of this dispatch, Alfred was Commander-in-Chief, Plymouth, a position he had occupied since August of that year. On 3rd June 1893, he was promoted to the rank of Admiral of the Fleet.
