"It is very kind of the Council and I much appreciate the honour, but I am too far away to attend meetings and it is not much use going unless I make myself useful."
8vo. Approx 7 x 4.5 inches. With integral blank leaf. Some loss to integral blank not affecting any part of text leaf, else near fine.
B.W. Matz (1865-1925) was a Dickens scholar and editior. He was a founding member of the CHARLES DICKENS Fellowship and the first editor of 'The Dickensian'. Jacobs is probably here refering to the Council of the Dickens Fellowship and to its meetings in London.
